More About Cook County

Hosting the City of Chicago, Cook County has a rich history that could briefly be described as a command of American History in the Mid-West since the mix of trading and war since J.B. Point du Sable first traded with indigenous tribes in the 1770s.  In 1803 Fort Dearborn was built, Illinois and Michigan Canals in the 1850s made possible what the lead up to the Great Fire of 1871.  This is when the entire center of the city was incinerated by the fate of a cow kicking over a lantern on the O'Leary Family Farm.
Its subsequent rebuild leads to the vision and creation of skyscrapers seen throughout the world.
As the Host of the Worlds Columbian Exposition of 1893 Chicago rose to distinguish itself as a well-balanced hub of world culture in North America through the modern era.
