Prairie Grove is a small village just north of Crystal Lake in northern Illinois. It has a pleasant country/suburban vibe with mature trees and rolling hills. The schools are very much sought after in Prairie Grove, especially Prairie Ridge High School, District 155. Previously known as Barreville the village was incorporated in 1973 as Prairie Grove. We can tell you from personal experience that Prairie Grove is a very pleasant place to spend time and there is some spectacular real estate here. Most Prairie Grove residents do their shopping and dining in Crystal Lake or McHenry which are each about a 10-minute drive away.
